I'M THINKING OF A NUMBER...

Using playing cards and groups of three, this fun activity can be used to reinforce addition, subtraction and multiplication skills.  Students take turn dealing three cards face down.  (Face cards and jokers are removed from the decks.) Each student picks up a card and immediately holds it against his or her forehead, numbers out.  Then they take turns trying to figure out what their number is through computation clues.  The first student might say, "The sum of your number is six."  The second student incorrectly guesses "Three!" then offers another clue:  "The sum of your numbers is seven."  Player #3 might have put it together by that point with the announcement, "I'm a two!"
