AUGUST 6th – ROOT BEER FLOAT DAY

Treat yourself today!  Pour rich, foamy root beer over two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a frosty mug.  The resulting "brown cow" is one of summer's classic cool-down beverages.

Tip: As you make the root beer float, have your child either write or draw the directions as they are sequentially occurring.  If possible, make your root beer float first while the child is creating the "recipe card."  Then, help the child work from his/her recipe to create his/her own root beer float.  As you enjoy your tasty treats either show your child cookbooks or recipe cards you have on hand and talk about how to read a recipe OR just chat about the favorite recipes your child enjoys and what you enjoyed as a child.  If the conversation is good and you have hit the bottom of your float, perhaps today is the day to go back for seconds!
